Job summary

Pyrotek is seeking a Safety & Environmental Engineer to partner with manufacturing and product teams—helping evaluate processes, equipment, materials, and operational changes to ensure we work safely, responsibly, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on role, ensuring practical EHS solutions are embedded in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline; equivalent education/experience.
• Minimum 4 years of safety and/or environmental regulatory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and engineering skills to evaluate hazards across chemical, physical, environmental, and process domains.
• Experience interpreting regulatory requirements and translating into practical compliance paths.
• Ability to analyze technical data and develop corrective actions and improvement plans.
• Proficient communication with manufacturing staff, leadership, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

What You’ll Do

• Partner directly with manufacturing and product teams to evaluatenew and changing processes, equipment, raw materials, and productsfor safety and environmental impacts.
• Lead and sustain safety and environmental programs at assigned manufacturing operation.
• Maintain site permit and program compliance withapplicablefederal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations (reporting programs listed below).
• Conduct hazard assessments and identify practical solutions to improve manufacturing processes and regulatory compliance.
• Analyze process and product data to identify opportunities forsafety, environmental, and sustainability improvements.
• Perform complexemissions calculationsand support environmental permits and regulatory reporting.
• Conduct and/or lead site, contractor, and suppliersafety and environmental audits.
• Develop corrective actions and lead improvement initiatives through completion.
• Support OSHA reporting, environmental reporting, SDS requirements, monitoring, testing, and regulatory documentation.
• Provide EHS training to manufacturing team members and reinforce abehavior-based safety culture.
• Investigate all incidents and injuries and facilitate return to work processes.
• Work with third-party testing, calibration, training, and environmental service providers.
• Communicate with regulatory agencies and provide technical support during compliance activities.

Qualifications

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree inChemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum4 years of safety and/or environmental regulatory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and engineering skills, including the ability to evaluate chemical, physical, environmental, and process‑related hazards.
• Experience interpreting regulatory requirements and developing practical paths to compliance.
• Ability to analyze technical data and develop corrective actions and improvement plans.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with manufacturing employees, leadership, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularlyExcel, including pivot tables, lookup formulas, aggregate functions, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and make sound decisions in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• A strong commitment to ethical, legally compliant, and responsible business practices.

The Manufacturing Environment

This role combines office-based engineering and administrative work with frequent time in manufacturing and operational areas. Site may involve inspections, process evaluations, testing, sample gathering, and supporting process or product changes. Strong Safety mindset.

The manufacturing environment may include moderate background noise, hard walking/standing surfaces, varying temperatures, airborne dust, and graphite particles. Appropriate PPE—including safety footwear, safety glasses/goggles, and respiratory protection when required—may be necessary.

Travel

Domestic travel by land and air may be required,up to 15%.

The minimum and maximum salaryrange for this full-time position is $80k - $95k + benefits. Relocation benefits may be available, if deemed applicable based on candidate location.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including but not limited tojob‑related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
