Job summary

Valero is seeking an intern to support safety and regulatory programs across refinery facilities, including implementation of EAP, ICP, SPCC, and RMP. The role emphasizes problem solving, teamwork, and commitment to compliance while developing professional skills in a large energy company.

Responsibilities include assisting with safety systems, regulatory compliance, and coordination with local fire departments.

Qualifications

• Overall GPA of 3.2 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale, preferred.
• Graduation dates of August 2027 through May 2029, required.
• Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required.

• Assists in completing multi-media responsibility for task driven commitments.
• Assists in establishing and maintaining relationship with local fire departments and response organizations to facilitate their participation in the Facility Response Plan.
• Assists in maintaining and ensuring implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Assists in ensuring implementation of Safe Work Practices (SWP), including providing training and making required changes.
• Assists in implementing site security plan.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in Fire Protection & Safety Engineering Technology, Occupational Safety and Health, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety Sciences, required.
• Overall GPA of 3.2 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale, preferred.
• Graduation dates of August 2027 through May 2029, required.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week, required.
• Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required.
