Job summary

Clark Construction Group is seeking a Safety Engineer to lead safety culture on active projects and ensure compliance with safety programs and regulations. You will coordinate with project supervisors, subcontractors, and field teams to implement safe work plans and hazard mitigations across all phases of construction.

The role requires 2+ years in construction safety, an undergraduate safety/health degree, and documented training in crane, fall protection, excavation, scaffolds, and equipment

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of construction safety experience with a degree in safety and health or related field.
  • Proof of training and experience in crane, fall protection, excavation, scaffolds, and heavy equipment safety.
  • Strong ability to communicate and influence supervisors, peers, and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Clark safety culture on a project and oversee safety of workers, partners, and the public.
  • Enforce safety programs and federal, state, and local standards on jobsites.
  • Lead reviews of crane, confined space, and Job Hazard Analysis plans; mitigate hazards with subcontractors.
  • Develop project-specific safety programs and education for jobsite personnel.
  • Partner with field supervision to ensure hazard mitigation is included in construction planning.
  • Identify exposures and recommend corrective action; align with project schedule and documents.
  • Drive a safety vision and foster third-party safety reviews (OSHAC) and industry relationships.

SummaryAs a Safety Engineer, you will ensure the safety of employees, trade partners, and the general public on our world class projects. The Safety Engineer is responsible for creating a culture of care while enforcing Clark's Safety and Health Policy, as well as, local and federal safety standards on jobsites. This role participates in the safety education in partnership with project supervisors to develop safe work plans for all phases and tasks. To us, no project is successful unless it is built safely.ResponsibilitiesDrive the Clark safety culture on a projectOversee and ensure the safety of employees, trade partners, and general publicEnforce corporate and project specific safety and health programs as well as federal, state, and local safety standardsLead the review of specialized safety plans (i.e. crane, confined space, Job Action Analysis, etc.)Partner with subcontractors to ensure all documentation is submitted timelyIdentify known or potential exposures and recommend corrective actionUnderstand your project's schedule and relevant Contract DocumentsDevelop, coordinate, and implement overall project specific safety programsPartner with field supervision to ensure safety hazard mitigation measures are included in the planning of project construction activitiesDevelop project specific safety education for jobsite personnel, including subcontractors, based upon upcoming work activities or recent at-risk trendsDrive and create a safety vision and aligns the team to deliver and achieve a safe workplace for everyoneFacilitate third party safety reviews including OSHACultivate a network of industry relationships to bring potential business opportunities to Clark leadershipCultivate industry relationships to help attract and recruit top talent to Clark. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.Your Work Environment:You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels.
