Job description

Discovery builds deadline-driven products used by teams worldwide, and we need a Safety Engineer to push our platform to the next level. The center of gravity here is ownership — $64,000 - $99,000 and a remote schedule orbit it, and 1 years gets you in the door.

Key Responsibilities

• Document technical decisions, architecture, and APIs for the broader org
• Backfill Node.js test coverage on the riskiest corners of Discovery's codebase
• Turn Discovery's Linux on-call noise into alerts that actually mean something
• Optimize application performance, latency, and resource utilization at scale
• Own the employee-centric edge cases in Discovery's Empathy billing nobody else wants to touch

What You'll Bring

• Sound instincts for reading a room you've never been in before
• Ability to learn new technology systems quickly and apply them effectively
• Hands-on proficiency with Linux, ideally paired with Networking
• The patience to mentor without taking over the keyboard
• Willingness to commute to Palmdale, CA or work flexibly as needed
• The discipline to document while it's fresh, not after it's forgotten

The solutions-focused team behind Discovery chose Palmdale on purpose, betting that great technology work doesn't need a coastal zip code. Around here, "I don't know yet" is a perfectly respectable sentence and often the start of something good.

The headline reads $64,000 - $99,000; the fine print is all upside, mentorship, benefits, and freedom to grow your Kubernetes.
