Job Description
Ryan Companies US, Inc. is hiring a Safety Engineer for its Mission Critical team at multiple locations including Atlanta, Columbus, Phoenix, South Bend, Minneapolis, and others. The role focuses on safety program implementation, monitoring, compliance, and continuous improvement for mission critical construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Interface closely with the Mission Critical Campus Safety Manager, field managers, and employees to implement, monitor, and enforce the safety program.
- Contribute to the safety and health program management, design, and continual improvement.
- Monitor construction activities and advise management on compliance with applicable regulatory rules, regulations, and laws.
- Collect and monitor project safety programs from subcontractors specific to each project.
- Assist in investigation of all project accidents, incidents, and near‑misses, analyzing data and developing preventive measures.
- Prepare and submit accident reports as required by federal, state, client, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the project site, equipment, and materials to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Develop and disseminate training materials and information to support safety protection programs.
- Compile and distribute statistical reports on safety performance, accident costs, and OSHA‑related fines.
- Develop databases to perform data analytics for operational improvement and zero‑incident initiatives.
- Participate in pre‑construction safety meetings and safety committee meetings.
- Review JHAs, PTPs, and permits required by subcontractors.
- Conduct project safety orientations, toolbox talks, and all job safety meetings.
- Oversee safety support personnel assigned to the project.
- Evaluate construction safety programs, advising supervision and management on adequacy and compliance with mandatory rules.
- Provide training and technical support on safety topics for mission critical projects to project supervisions.
- Assist with implementation of company drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Administer and coordinate medical treatment facilities for injured workers.
- Interface with OSHA and assist during compliance inspections.
- Coordinate OSHA consultation visits, partnership programs, and manage fines and citation meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of successful safety management experience in the construction industry, with preference for those with mission critical project experience.
- Knowledge of LOTO, NFPA 70E, and OSHA construction regulations.
- Ability to work independently and productively in a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with construction technology systems and multiple computer software platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership and initiative; self‑starter who can complete tasks with little supervision.
- OSHA 30‑hour construction certificate.
- Current first‑aid, CPR, and AED training from a nationally recognized organization.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, risk management, electrical engineering, or related field.
- Certified credentials such as CSP, CIH, ASP, or CHST are a plus.
- Willingness to travel temporarily to project locations.
