Description

Team Fishel, the Best Choice in Utility Construction since 1936, is hiring a Safety Coordinator for our Central Virginia operations, based in Mechanicsville, VA. The responsibilities for this position include promoting Team Fishel's accident-free culture, assisting teammates in learning and implementing safety policies, coaching crews on safe work habits, conducting safety assessments on project sites, and participating in accident investigations and root cause analyses if necessary.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversees training and implementation of safety policies and programs to mitigate risks and protect teammates.
  2. Creates and delivers safety training programs to educate teammates on safe work practices.
  3. Provides weekly safety and training reports to field leadership.
  4. Conducts safety assessments on project sites, debriefs findings, and provides coaching to crews.
  5. Ensures proper investigation and response to accidents or injuries.
  6. Contributes to safety planning, direction, and goal setting for safety programs.
  7. Tracks and reports safety metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  8. Promotes our safety culture and the value of being accident-free; develops partnerships with field crews.
Requirements & Qualifications
  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction safety industry, with knowledge of utility construction (electric, natural gas, telecommunications).
  2. Extensive experience with electric linework and power distribution is highly desirable.
  3. Advanced safety certifications such as OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR, and Smith System Driving Trainer certification are preferred.
  4. Ability to perform onsite safety audits and document findings.
  5. Effective communication and coaching skills; proficient with MS Office and Google Workspace.
  6. Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
  7. Willingness and ability to travel within Virginia to support crews and offices.
