• Equivalent work experience of 1–3 years in an Industrial/Manufacturing Environment.
• Certifications such as CSP, ASP or GSP are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure OSHA, EPA and NFPA compliance and best practices.

Job Location: Newton, IA

What you’ll do:

• In partnership with plant and safety management, plan, lead and participate in plant safety meetings
  Implement, inspect, and maintain job site and office SDS manuals.
• Trainemployees in SDS procedures
• Provide and ensure compliance with information, signs, posters, barriers and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to preventaccess to hazardous conditions
• Ensures the implementation, administration, and maintenance of all facility specific EHS programs
• Assist and participate in all EHS continuous improvements initiatives relating to OSHA, EPA,and best management practices
• Determine corrective or preventative measures, assign responsibility, and follow up to ensure the corrective measures have beenimplemented
• Conduct periodic plant safety inspections to ensure safety procedures are in place, accurate and up todate
• Provide recommendations and assistance to safety and plant management with respect to plant hazards, employee training, new/safe equipment operation, and safe material or substanceutilization
• Ensure SDS program is maintained, and all necessary personnel is trained on the procedures. Manage hazardous materials control program, review samples, and test for hazardous materials prior to the start ofoperations
• Ensure all safety communication and information is developed and disseminated in a timelymanner
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that engages
• Frequently communicate with Business Leadership and Corporate Safety to keep themapprised of pertinentissues
• Maintain training records in the employee files.

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s degree in safety science, safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational health, engineering or other industrial discipline workexperience preferred.
• Equivalent work experience of 1-3 years in an Industrial/ManufacturingEnvironment
• EMT and/or fire fighter experience preferred
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Associates Safety Professional (ASP)
• Graduate Safety Professional (GSP)
• Knowledge of:
• Occupational Safety &Health Administration (OSHA)
• American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
• National FireProtection Association (NFPA)
• WorkersCompensation regulations
• Ability to deal with situations involving sensitive and confidential companyinformation
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete multipleprojects in a timely manner
• Ability to make decisions and operate independently with respect to complex issues and business requirements.

Working Conditions:

• Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
• This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
• Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant

Safety Activities:

• Be aware of and observe all safety practices. Including but not limited to- Safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc… as required
• Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
• Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
