Role Description

The Safety Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in the Des Moines Metropolitan Area. This role supports the safety team in implementing and maintaining workplace health and safety programs, including assisting with inspections, audits, and documentation related to compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Safety Assistant helps track and analyze incident reports, maintains safety records, and prepares routine reports and communications to promote a safe work environment. Daily activities may include coordinating safety training sessions, distributing safety materials, supporting Environment Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives, and collaborating with operations staff to identify and address potential hazards. The role requires consistent on-site presence to respond to safety concerns promptly and to support continuous improvement in safety practices.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge relevant to food manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) experience and an understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards.
• Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to review incident data, identify trends, and support corrective actions.
• Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to convey safety information clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with safety management systems, incident reporting tools, and basic MS Office or similar software is beneficial.
• Relevant education or training in safety, occupational health, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to work on-site, prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is important.
