Climb Higher (About the Job)

The Safety and Training Manager is expected to serve as the subject matter expert in safety, developing and carrying out procedures as well as documenting processes within the organization.

Your Work that Keeps us Connected (Job Responsibilities)
  • Responsible for the safety and training compliance as outlined by the company's safety policies, industry standards and OSHA directives
  • Conduct on-site Safety Observation Reports to identify possible hazardous and deficient situations, implement solutions and follow up with corrective action to employees as needed
  • Conduct random site visits for the purpose of training and promoting Safety
  • Create and disseminate relevant Safety Bulletins
  • Work with internal Construction Managers and Subcontractor Crews to develop proactive safety initiatives
  • Implement, interact, and maintain active communication processes with Operations and Program management teams
  • Conduct classroom training and field demonstration for company personnel and subcontracted personnel to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures
  • Assign web-based training and verify employee training is up to date
  • Forecast future training
  • Work with company's safety Consultant to create and revise in-house training modules
  • Proctor and administer all relevant training courses and issue certificates for all Instructor Lead Safety training classes
  • Ensure implementation and tracking of in-house safety programs
  • Conduct incident investigations when warranted and engage company safety consultant as needed
  • Responsible for staying current with safety standards and best practices
Minimum/Preferred Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years Construction Safety experience
  • 5 years in the telecommunications tower industry required
  • Tower climbing experience required, NWSA TTT I & TTT II preferred
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hr Construction Outreach Training
Signal Strength (Knowledge/Skills)
  • Strong communication skills across all levels, both internally and externally
  • Strong time and stress management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Qualified in the use of Fall Protection
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA standards (29 CFR 1926)
  • Must have a valid vehicle driver's license and driving record that meets criteria to drive as outlined in the Timberline's Fleet Policy
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be comfortable climbing to various heights
  • Must be able to bend, squat, twist and sit for extended periods of time as needed
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
