Pittsburgh Water is seeking a Security Officer for the 3rd shift to safeguard all facilities in the district. You will monitor, patrol, respond to incidents, and enforce security protocols under the direction of the Security Coordinator.
The role requires strong judgment, knowledge of security systems, and the ability to work the overnight hours. Must have high school diploma and be eligible for ACT 235 certification within one year; residency in PA is preferred.

Under the supervision of the Security Coordinator, the Security Officer will be responsible for monitoring, patrolling, and enforcing security protocols at any/all assigned Pittsburgh Water facilities.
The following requirements list the minimum education/training/experience required to qualify for this job. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.
No direct reports / Will receive supervision directly from the Security Coordinator.
The employee is expected to be able to work with little to no supervision at times and adhere to all reporting requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; see, talk and hear; reach with hands and arms; stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on even and uneven surfaces. The employee is frequently required to operate a Pittsburgh Water vehicle or related equipment as needed, lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and work in loud conditions with vibrations, traffic, mechanical, chemical, fire, and explosive risks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and depth perception.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a loud or moderate noise level in the work environment. Will perform work outdoors in all forms of weather, including under extreme weather. The employee may be exposed to confined, high spaces, like erect scaffolding; loud conditions with vibrations, traffic, mechanical, chemical, fire, and explosive risks; and odors, dusts, fumes, mists, poor ventilation, and gases which may require a respirator.
Availability to work all three shifts (7:00am - 3:00pm, 3:00pm - 11:00pm, 11:00pm - 7:00am), as well as weekends, and holidays. Subject to remain on duty beyond normal hours and/or recalled during emergency situations or other extensive periods.
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) physical examination performed by the Authority's examining physician.
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) drug screening. Continued employment may be subject to randomized drug and alcohol testing conducted without advance notice and for reasonable suspicion.
Ability to successfully pass a thorough investigation consisting of a criminal history check, verification of prior employment and performance, reference, and credentials checks, and in some cases credit history.
