Job summary

Essex County Schools is seeking a Substitute School Bus Driver to safely transport students on scheduled routes and field trips. You will perform pre-trip inspections, fuel and maintain the bus, and ensure student safety and orderly conduct per district policies.

Ideal candidates hold a valid CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to communicate clearly and work with school staff, parents, and students on demanding routes.

Qualifications

• CDL with P and S endorsements required or able to obtain them
• Ability to perform pre-trip inspections
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Safely drives a school bus on designated routes and field trips
• Inspects bus daily and maintains safety readiness
• Ensures student safety and orderly conduct per district policies
• Maintains route timing and required records
• Assists with bus drills and emergency procedures
