Job description

We are the second largest sewage collection utility in California, and we own and operate the second largest water resource recovery facility of its kind in the nation, the EchoWater Resource Recovery Facility located near Elk Grove. We provide service to residential, commercial, and industrial customers throughout unincorporated Sacramento County; the cities of Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Sacramento, and West Sacramento; and the communities of Courtland, Locke, and Walnut Grove. The services we provide vary based on the location within our service area.

The Risk Manager directs, manages, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) risk management program including liability, property, workers compensation insurance, loss prevention and risk transfer activities (including contract review), liability and property claims administration, and coordinates with Human Resources, and external governing bodies.

Under the direction of the Internal Services Department Director, this position performs all duties with a high degree of independence and initiative. The Risk Manager serves as a direct consultant to top management and supervisors on a variety of duties, providing coordination, oversight, and leadership to the SacSewer risk management program.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree, or higher, from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Insurance, Finance, Risk Management, Human Resources Management, Accounting, or other closely related field.

AND

Four years of full-time paid experience supervising or managing risk management programs, which include responsibility for conducting risk assessment and evaluation, liability, property and claims administration, utilization of self-insurance and excess insurance, risk transfer and/or a related insurance industry program such as commercial underwriting.
