Qualifications

• Completion of a four-year physician assistant baccalaureate program and a year of clinical training.
• Completion of a two-year accredited physician assistant program plus two years of clinical training.
• State accreditation based on certifying exam.
• 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years.

Responsibilities

• Examines patient, takes medical history, and makes preliminary diagnoses.
• Administers and orders diagnostic tests and interprets results.
• Performs therapeutic procedures such as immunizations and wound care.
• Develops and implements patient care plans.
• Prescribes medications within state guidelines.
