Cactus Vet Clinic in St. Jo, Texas, is seeking a veterinarian to join a rural, community-focused mixed animal practice with a strong equine component.

This role offers the chance to build lasting client relationships, practice a wide variety of medicine, and contribute to growing the practice in a small-town setting. We welcome full‑time or part‑time applicants who value independence and collaboration, with support from an experienced team while maintaining clinical autonomy.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited program.
• State licensure in good standing.
• Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation with staff and clients.
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance over 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat companion animals to detect and diagnose disease or injuries.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and collect samples; interpret results.
• Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
• Perform surgery and prescribe medications as needed.
• Provide counsel on pet end-of-life care.
• Maintain patients' medical records.
• Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and policies.
