Job summary

The COO will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership team and oversee the Critical Access Hospital’s operational performance in rural Maine. The role drives safe, high-quality patient care while ensuring regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and operational excellence.

Working with the CEO and clinical leaders, the COO leads strategic planning, allocates resources, and champions service excellence across departments including Rehabilitation, Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or related field.
Master’s degree preferred in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), Nursing, or related healthcare discipline.
Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
At least 5 years of senior operational leadership experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute the hospital’s strategic plan with the CEO and ELT.
Direct day-to-day operations across departments to ensure efficiency.
Improve patient outcomes and patient experience scores through quality initiatives.
Ensure regulatory compliance and survey readiness.
Lead budget development and monitor financial performance with the CFO.
Foster physician and provider relations and community partnerships.
Oversee emergency preparedness and community health initiatives.
