Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) seeks a RTR Process Engineer to identify and implement product and process improvements, manage change requests, and ensure on-time submittals while coordinating with customers and vendors.

On-site in Lynchburg, VA, you will work with a team to address nonconformances and optimize shop operations. The role requires a technical Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain a DOE clearance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement product and process improvements.
  • Process change requests and revisions to support operations.
  • Authors and tracks customer submittals to avoid production delays.
  • Review and improve operating instructions.
  • Maintain familiarity with customer specifications and address nonconformances.
  • Respond promptly to area operations and QC concerns.
  • Generate RWPs as needed.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and plan improvements for shop equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate vendor support.
  • Participate in customer calls and visits related to cognizant products/equipment.
  • Communicate project progress to the team.
  • Obtain quotes and generate purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Your Day To Day As An RTR Process Engineer
  • Identifies and implements product and process improvements.
  • Processes necessary change requests/SER revisions/etc. to support area operations.
  • Authors and tracks customer submittals to avoid production delays.
  • Reviews and improves upon area operating instructions (OPs, PPOs, SMTs).
  • Maintains familiarity with customer specifications to understand and address nonconformances.
  • Responds with urgency to area operations and QC concerns.
  • Generates RWPs on an as-needed basis.
  • Identifies vulnerabilities and plans to address existing shop equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment with urgency. Uses individual experience and/or reaches out for vendor support.
  • Participates in customer calls and visits as it pertains to cognizant products and/or equipment.
  • Communicates to the project team progress on active projects as needed.
  • Obtains quotes and generates purchase requisitions on an as-needed basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a technical field plus two (2) years experience is required.
  • Must be able to lead small teams on limited scope projects.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a rapidly changing environment is required.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Pay: $62,000 - $109,000

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $62,000 and $109,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
