Triton Environmental Consultants, Ltd. is seeking an experienced NDT technician to perform inspections of structures, pipelines and materials using x-ray, ultrasound, and related equipment.

The role emphasizes adherence to codes and procedures, long shifts and travel, strong safety culture, and the ability to train teammates while ensuring accurate documentation and on-site quality.

Qualifications

• Safety standards must be followed and lead others to follow.
• Able to work long hours, up to 16-hour days, with short-call responses.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and occasional 150 pounds with assistance.
• Excellent customer service and punctuality for assignments.
• Strong teamwork and ability to instruct others professionally.
• Expertise in multiple NDT methods and commitment to ongoing learning.
• Intermediate mechanical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct non-destructive testing of components and materials per codes and procedures.
• Perform NDT inspections using methods such as phased array, shear wave, gamma and x-ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing and visual checks.
• Select, prepare, load, calibrate, or operate NDT equipment.
• Identify defects using appropriate testing techniques.
• Document results and complete work orders per protocols and timelines.
• Drive company vehicles and maintain a safe driving record.
• Provide instruction to assigned assistants and ensure team safety.

Summary

Conduct NDT inspections of structures, pipelines or other components and materials using x-ray, ultrasound, or related equipment.

Essential Functions

• Conduct non‑destructive (NDT) testing of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, equipment utilization, specifications, and procedures.
• Utilize appropriate NDT method to perform NDT inspections, including phased array, shear wave, gamma radiography, x-ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing and visual inspections.
• Select, prepare, load, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the non‑destructive testing of products or materials.
• Identify defects in materials using appropriate testing technique.
• Complete documentation and work orders thoroughly following established protocols and meeting required timeframes.
• Drive Company vehicles and maintain safe driving record.
• Provide instruction to assigned assistants and ensure safety of entire team.

• Safety– Knowledge of, and willingness to follow and lead others to follow applicable safety regulations, policies and procedures. Apply these safety standards in the work environment and look out for other crew members.
• Able to Work a Demanding and Flexible Schedule- Strong work ethic required. Able to work long periods of time, up to 16-hour days. Able to respond to call-outs on short notice and to stay on site, including long distance travel for extended periods of time.
• Physical Demands– Able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on loose, rough, or uneven terrain. Able to occasionally exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance. Climbing and working at heights, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion, working in confined spaces, working in extreme cold and heat, visual acuity, working near hazards including moving mechanical parts, working near electrical components and exposures to chemicals. Applicants must meet weight restrictions to ensure their safety when utilizing safety harnesses.
• Customer Service– Interact professionally with customers. Punctual arrival to assignments.
• Teamwork– Able to work effectively as part of a team and to provide instruction to others effectively and professionally.
• NDT Methods– Expertise in multiple NDT methods and willingness to engage in ongoing learning and application of skills.
• Mechanical– Intermediate mechanical knowledge.

Requirements

Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Certification and Licensure

Valid driver’s license. Insurability through PROtect, LLC. insurance carrier. Certification in the following NDT methods: UT Shearwave. Additional certs a plus.

Work Experience

Demonstrated NDT skill, knowledge, or experience. Requires Shear Wave and Phased Array experience. PLI experience a plus.
