Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, GA is seeking an entry-level Aircraft Maintenance Technician trainee to support maintenance, repair, and modification of key aircraft components.

Under direct supervision you will learn FAA inspection processes, complete work orders, and ensure quality standards while gaining hands-on experience with airframes, avionics, and electrical systems. A High School diploma or GED and pursuing an aviation maintenance certificate are required.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing, and speaking English required.
• Prior aviation maintenance experience (avionics, electrical, or mechanical) is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in maintenance and servicing aircraft mechanical systems.
• Learn repair, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical and functional components of aircraft including airframes, engine components, landing gear, electrical components, and control systems.
• Coordinate with inspection to ensure FAA compliance and documentation.
• Properly complete work order sign-offs, shift turnovers, and other paperwork.
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and specifications.
• Identify and tag customer property; store components securely.
• Follow SOPs and JSAs when operating ground support equipment.
• Operate and oversee use of special support equipment for major components.
• Coordinate with other departments for overhaul or repair as needed.
• Apply 6S and Lean initiatives to keep shops, hangars, and aircraft work areas clean.
• Maintain tools and equipment provided by the company.
• Assist with movement of aircraft as required.
• Develop knowledge of FAA regulations, process specifications, Repair Station and Quality Control manuals, and company policies.

Education and Experience Requirements

Position Purpose:Under direct supervision, assist with various functions of aircraft maintenance, repair, replacement, and modification of key aircraft components to ensure proper operation. In this position, the employee will gain knowledge of and familiarity with the Gulfstream aircraft, and with internal procedures for work completion and quality control.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:

1. Gain experience and knowledge in the maintenance and servicing of aircraft mechanical systems .
2. Learn skills related to the repair, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical and functional components of the aircraft including airframes, engine components, landing gear, electrical components, and control systems .
3. Coordinate with inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA inspection and documentation requirements .
4. Properly complete work order sign-offs, shift turnovers, and other paperwork in a timely manner .
5. Ensure that all work accomplished meets quality standards and specifications .
6. Properly identify (tag) customer property and equipment. Store aircraft components and other customer property securely and safely .
7. Follow standard operating procedures and JSAs when operating ground support equipment .
8. Operate and oversee use of special support equipment used in removal and installations of major components .
9. Coordinate with other departments to arrange for the overhaul or repair of customer property as needed .
