Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) for a full-time night shift. You will perform comprehensive sleep studies, analyze data, and support patients through diagnostic and therapeutic journeys within a dedicated healthcare team.

Responsibilities include equipment setup, adherence to AASM standards, overnight studies, scoring, and reporting, as well as patient education and EMR documentation. Team collaboration and ongoing professional development are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.
• Graduate of an accredited Polysomnography program.
• Previous experience performing polysomnographic testing and sleep study scoring.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, calibrate, and maintain sleep study equipment.
• Apply electrodes and sensors according to AASM standards.
• Conduct overnight polysomnographic studies, including CPAP/BiPAP titration studies, split-night studies, and MSLT.
• Monitor patients throughout studies and respond to sleep-related events and emergencies.
• Score sleep studies and generate detailed reports in accordance with AASM guidelines.
• Educate patients on sleep disorders, PAP therapy, and equipment usage.
• Ensure equipment functionality and compliance with infection prevention protocols.
• Accurately document procedures, observations, and patient interactions within the EMR.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development activities.
