Interstate Batteries is seeking a Route Supervisor to manage and develop Route Service Managers and drivers, expanding service and sales across assigned routes. You will train staff, align goals with the Market General Manager, and oversee safety and DOT compliance.

You will also generate operational reports, ensure proper paperwork, monitor financial impact, and help optimize fleet maintenance and route execution with feedback from dealers and field observations.

Competenze

• Minimum of 2 years demonstrated sales, customer service and delivery experience.
• Prior sales management experience preferred.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to read, write and compute basic math.

Purpose of Job:

The Route Supervisor will manage, train, and develop RSMs (Route Service Manager) and other drivers to service and aggressively expand sales on an assigned set of customers along all routes.

Job Components:

• Manage, train and develop RSMs and other drivers
• Collaborate with Market General Manager to set goals for RSMs and ensure the team is meeting the goals.
• Generate and distribute daily and weekly reports for RSMs and other drivers to utilize on routes.
• Train all RSMs and other drivers on policies and procedures including proper paperwork for opening and closing accounts.
• Maintain knowledge of the operation’s overall financial results and how the drivers are impacting the results.
• Ensure all drivers are compliant with all DOT and safety rules and regulations.
• Team up with the site Manager to ensure that vehicle fleet is maintained and serviced timely and properly.
• Maintain contact with dealers in order to obtain feedback on the quality of service being provided.
• Fill in on route or hot shot as needed.
• Help load, unload, and count trucks as needed.
• Ride along with different drivers during the week to evaluate training needs and to provide feedback to strategize how to improve; Provides recognition for successes.
• Encourage and train drivers on how to look for new ways to generate GP at every stop.
• Create/maintain a culture of shared ideas, open communication, and a positive, strategical, and motivational attitude within the team.
• Follow / fulfill all driver program requirements, as specified by the manager.
• Must have current, valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to operate motor vehicles.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years demonstrated sales, customer service and delivery experience
• Prior sales management experience preferred
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to read, write and compute basic math
• Strong written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization and time management skills and able to work under pressure
• Working knowledge of carrier operations, shipment routing and distribution methods
• Understanding of state, federal and interstate commerce regulations
• Working knowledge of computers or ability to learn applicable systems required
• Strong training and coaching skills
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and/or forklift
• Must have a clean drivers record AND meet driver qualifications requirements

Scope Data:

• Uses frequent independent judgment when making decisions.
• Manages team of 2 or more drivers.
• Accountable for sales growth within the distributorship.

Work Environment:

• Consistent sitting, standing and walking
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, without assistance and occasionally lifting up to 75lbs
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
• Exposed to battery warehouse conditions, such as exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals
• Exposed to the hazards of the road when operating or riding in a vehicle
