Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a Route Driver in Minnesota to represent the company while delivering and picking up freight. The role includes loading, inspecting the vehicle, and handling payments as needed, with overtime potential.

Starting wage is $20.00–$24.00 per hour based on experience, with overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours. Must be 21+, have a valid license, and pass a DOT-friendly standard.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers in a timely manner.
• Inspect vehicle and report any mechanical problems.
• Load the truck efficiently to maximize space and protect packages.
• Collect payments for certain packages delivered.
• Verify contents of pickups on shipping papers and notify management of discrepancies.
• Maintain professional appearance and vehicle cleanliness.

Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years we have expanded throughout the Midwest.

Job Summary

The Route Driver is responsible for representing the company while making deliveries and picking up freight.

Hours and Wages

• Monday- Friday, 7:30AM- completion of route
• 10-15 hours of overtime may be expected each week
• Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed)
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
• Starting wage: $20.00- $24.00 per hour, based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
• Load the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packages
• Collect payments for certain packages delivered
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
• Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to operate a manual transmission, or have the willingness to learn
• Possess good customer service and can work independently

Education and Experience

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Hold a valid Driver's License with a good driving record which meets company standards

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off company vehicle
• Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
