Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking a Route Driver responsible for operating a semi-truck or vacuum truck to collect animal mortalities, fat and bone, or grease from customer locations. Route duties vary by plant location.

You will perform safety checks, maintain the DOT electronic log, ensure containers are clean, obtain customer signatures, and keep accurate route tickets. This role requires a CDL A with tanker endorsements and the ability to work nights or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL A license with tanker endorsements required.
• Must be registered on the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• Willing to work nights and/or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Collects and inspects raw material at time of pick up for any foreign or hazardous material at customer location.
• Dependent on plant location, may pump or load grease containers; ensure cleanliness and proper returns; record damages.
• Maintains an Electronic DOT log.
• Provides customer with receipt of pick-up and obtains signature of management at location.
• Responsible for company vehicle; maintains vehicle in clean condition; operates vehicle per regulations.
• Performs all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; adheres to company policy and safety rules.
• Completes vehicle condition report daily; operates under safety standards.
• Maintains excellent customer relations by providing quality, professional service at all times.
• Completes all required paperwork (route tickets, inspections, accident reports, mileage, service forms) daily.
• Operates the established route as assigned.
• Attends safety meetings; may serve on Safety Committee.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Dependent on plant location, may pump or load grease containers; ensure cleanliness of container and surrounding area; returns container with screen and lock secured; notes any damages to container or corral area; properly completes route ticket with customer signature

• Maintain and update vehicle condition reporton a daily basis
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 21 years old with clean Motor Vehicle Record
• CDL A license holder with tanker endorsements
• Must be registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior route experience within a customer-oriented environment preferred.
• Works well with others in a team environment.
• Dependable; reliable; ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
• Knowledge of safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle and general maintenance
• Experience with truck hydraulics is a plus
• Strong computer and basic math skills.
