Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Rotordynamics Design Engineer to join Solar Turbines Incorporated in San Diego.
The role focuses on rotordynamics analysis of gas compressors, cross-functional collaboration, and development and validation of advanced turbine compressor solutions. Requirements include a Mechanical Engineering degree, turbomachinery design experience, and strong CFD/rotordynamics knowledge; graduate degree, Fortran, and FEA are a plus.
Qualifications
- Degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Extensive turbomachinery design experience.
- Advanced rotordynamics knowledge.
- Experience with CFD for rotordynamics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven teamwork and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Perform lateral rotordynamic analysis of gas compressors using state-of-the-art tools.
- Support CFD-based improvements to rotordynamics predictions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for product development and testing.
- Assist in complex compressor development and validation testing.
- Provide field, test cell, and manufacturing support to address vibration issues.
- Support validation testing of rotordynamic technologies.
