Job summary

Voith US Inc. in Appleton, WI is hiring a Rotor Repair Cobot Welder to operate and support collaborative robotic welding systems for rotor repair and refurbishment.

You will collaborate with engineering, maintenance, quality, and operations teams to meet repair objectives while ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Prior welding experience with robots is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years welding, manufacturing, or industrial repair experience preferred.
  • Experience operating robotic or automated welding equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, repair specifications, and weld symbols.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate collaborative robotic welding systems to perform rotor repair welding.
  • Load, unload, position, and secure rotor components in welding fixtures.
  • Inspect rotor components before and after welding to verify repair specs.
  • Adjust cobot welding parameters within approved process guidelines.
  • Perform basic robot teach points and program touch-ups as required.
  • Conduct visual inspections and basic dimensional checks on welds.
  • Complete production, quality, and repair documentation on time.
  • Troubleshoot minor cobot, tooling, and welding issues; escalate complex issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping on welding equipment and work areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Collaborate with quality, engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to support repair objectives.

Position Summary:

The Rotor Repair Cobot Welder is responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting collaborative robotic welding systems used in the repair and refurbishment of rotors and related components. This position ensures repaired components meet established quality, safety, and productivity standards while partnering with engineering, maintenance, quality, and operations teams to support continuous improvement of repair processes.

Key Responsibilities.
  • Operate collaborative robotic welding systems to perform rotor repair welding processes.
  • Load, unload, position, and secure rotor components in welding fixtures.
  • Inspect rotor components before and after welding to verify compliance with repair specifications.
  • Adjust cobot welding parameters within approved process guidelines.
  • Perform basic robot teach points and program touch-ups as required.
  • Conduct visual inspections and basic dimensional checks on completed welds.
  • Complete production, quality, and repair documentation accurately and on time.
  • Troubleshoot minor cobot, tooling, and welding issues; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping on welding equipment and work areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and welding safety standards.
  • Collaborate with quality, engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to support repair objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years of welding, manufacturing, or industrial repair experience preferred.
  • Experience operating robotic or automated welding equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, repair specifications, and weld symbols.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MIG welding certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with collaborative robots or automated welding systems.
  • Experience in electric motor or rotating equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of welding processes, repair techniques, and basic inspection methods.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to identify process abnormalities and recommend corrective actions.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work around industrial equipment.

  • Safety compliance and incident prevention.
  • Weld quality and first-pass yield.
  • Productivity and throughput performance.
  • Equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Accurate and timely completion of required documentation and completion.
