Applied Materials in Gloucester, MA, invites bright new engineers to join the Fusion program as Systems Engineer. This rotational training program starts in 2027 and offers three to four departmental rotations plus one manufacturing assignment to shape your early career.

During two years, you’ll tackle cutting-edge designs, learn across electrical, mechanical, physics, and software domains, and position yourself for a full-time engineering role at Applied Materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, EE, ME, or Systems Engineering.
• GPA above 3.0 preferred; strong problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to analyze multiple information sources.
• Strong communication and consensus-building abilities.
• Flexible, adaptable, results-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

• Write and refine system engineering specifications.
• Collaborate on multi-discipline projects across electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithms and software.
• Conduct tests and provide feedback to engineering teams.
• Identify and mitigate risks; ensure quality and maintainability.
• Work with System Integration during assembly and testing.
• Review external interfaces and document architecture decisions.
