Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. offers the 2027 Engineering Rotational Development Program (ERDP) – Materials Track for entry-level Materials Engineers.

You will rotate through three 12-month assignments in the Midwest, building technical skills with mentorship and real-world challenges in a globally leading manufacturing environment. You will develop in Ferrous Metallurgy, Failure Analysis, Quality Engineering, Heat Treat Engineering, and Product Development, while advancing your knowledge of Caterpillar’s

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree in Materials Engineering (Metallurgical/ Ceramic/ Mat Sci & Eng, etc.)
  • GPA 3.0/4.0 or higher (no rounding)
  • Candidates with up to 12 months of relevant work experience
  • Willing to relocate and travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through three 12-month assignments located primarily in the midwestern United States.
  • Contribute to materials engineering projects across Ferrous Metallurgy, Failure Analysis, Quality Engineering, Heat Treat Engineering and Product Development.
  • Work with mentors and cross-functional teams to develop technical abilities and professional growth.
  • Apply engineering principles to real-world manufacturing challenges and broaden Caterpillar's applications and markets
