Job summary

V2X Inc is seeking an Avionics Technician to install, inspect, test, adjust, or repair avionics equipment on assigned aircraft at the Patuxent River, MD site. The role requires independent work with focus on radar, communications, navigation, and missile-control systems.

Candidates should have 2–4 years of hands-on repair experience on UH-1Y/Z or CH-53E, strong schematic reading, soldering, and the ability to work with CAMS and NAMP/NALCOMIS documentation.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Completion of specialized courses in aircraft avionics for helicopter.
  • 2–4 years recent experience in repair of avionics, com/nav, or instrument systems on UH-1Y/Z or CH-53E; 4 years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operational checks and troubleshoot complex avionics equipment.
  • Use advanced test equipment to verify function and diagnose faults.
  • Repair or replace components based on test results per diagrams and manuals.

This position is located in Patuxent River, MD on the Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL) Program.

Responsibilities

The Avionics Technician installs, inspects, tests, adjusts, or repairs avionics equipment, such as radar, communications, navigation, and missile control systems in assigned aircraft. Performs tasks independently with little or no supervision.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs operational checks, bench checks, troubleshoots, and isolates malfunctions in complex aircraft avionics equipment.
  • Uses complex test equipment such as continuous wave and pulse generators, time domain reflectometers, multi-trace oscilloscopes, frequency counters, multi-meters and deviation meters, and specialized test equipment to perform operational checks.
  • Repairs or replaces components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
  • Performs calibration, repair and replacement of system components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft records and is knowledgeable in CAMS documentation.
  • Comply with all current sections of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series applicable to aircraft maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications, NAMP and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications.

Knowledge & Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced electronic principles and circuit analysis.
  • Ability to trace signal flow, understand interrelationships of circuits, interpret waveforms and voltages.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft communications/navigation and instrument systems.
  • Ability to interpret schematic diagrams, engineering drawings and charts of assigned systems.
  • Excellent soldering and harness/wiring skills, PC board, surface mount and crimping experience.
  • Working knowledge of all standard test equipment and maintenance procedures.
  • Working knowledge of technical orders and maintenance forms.
  • Possess a valid US State driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret data is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain a government flight line driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
Qualifications

Experience & Education:

  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Completion of specialized courses in aircraft avionics for the helicopter.
  • Two (2) to Four (4) years recent experience in the repair of aircraft avionics, com/nav, or instrument systems of the UH-1Y/Z OR H-50 R/S or CH-53E aircraft. Four (4) years preferred.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment
  • May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.

The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company’s base pay compensation for locations in the state of Maryland and may be modified at the discretion of the company.

Compensation
  • Maryland Salary Range: USD $47.67
  • Union Flex Benefit Credit: USD $3.00/HR
  • Opt‑Out Health Credit (must have your own coverage): USD $3.15/HR
