Job Title: Food Service Liaison

Schedule Details: Monday through Friday, Weekends (Saturday and Sunday)

Scheduled Hours: 6:30-3:00/3:30-7:00

Shift: 4 - Mixed Shift, 4.5 Hours (United States of America)

Cost Center: 10020 - 5030 Food Services Kitchen

Union: UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers)

The Food Service Liaison acts as a key communicator between patients, families, and staff. Responsibilities include explaining the meal selection process, assisting with menu selections according to prescribed diets using HealthTouch, and ensuring patients are fed within 45 minutes of ordering.

I. Major Responsibilities:
  1. Communicate effectively and respectfully over the telephone to assist with meal service selections, even during high call volumes. Enter complete orders into the HealthTouch system, with an average call time of 1-2 minutes.
  2. Review therapeutic diet orders and modify patient orders to meet dietary restrictions while respecting patient preferences and ensuring aesthetic appeal. This includes nourishments, supplements, and tube feedings.
  3. Discuss necessary modifications with patients, family members, or nurses, explaining changes and seeking satisfactory substitutions to ensure nutritionally balanced meals that adhere to dietary restrictions.
  4. Communicate with patients, staff, and guests following departmental scripting policies and procedures.
  5. Report any diet order issues to the Supervisor or clinical dietitian as mandated by policy.
II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent, or 2 years of food service experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Preferred: Previous healthcare experience, knowledge of specialized diets and menus, bilingual skills.

Experience/Skills:

  • Required: Customer service or call center experience, proficiency with personal computers or data terminals, fluency in English, ability to follow instructions, effective communication skills with patients and staff.
  • Preferred: 3-4 months of related experience in nutrition and food service operations.
