Job summary

SRS Building Products - Torrance is hiring for a loader/rooftop materials handler to load, unload, and position roofing materials at customer sites. You will move items from trucks to rooftops and ensure safe, accurate handling in compliance with OSHA guidelines, while delivering strong service to roofing contractors.

The role emphasizes physical fitness, the ability to work outdoors on varied roof surfaces, and teamwork with drivers to optimize schedule and loading processes.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).
• Strong safety awareness and knowledge of OSHA guidelines.
• Ability to use PPE properly.
• Willingness to work overtime based on schedules.
• Forklift certification preferred but not required.

• Distribute materials onto roofs safely and efficiently per guidelines.
• Operate conveyor belts where trained to move materials from trucks to rooftops.
• Verify material orders accurately and reconcile discrepancies.

SRS Building Products - Torrance

Position Purpose:

Responsible for loading, unloading, transporting and positioning materials to and from various sites on the rooftop of residential homes and commercial buildings while upholding the company’s standards for outstanding customer service and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Load and unload roofing materials from delivery trucks using manual and mechanical methods.
• Ensuring that all safety guidelines and procedures are followed.
• Facilitate the safe and effective distribution of materials onto flat and sloped roofs as per company safety guidelines.
• Operate conveyor belt systems (where trained and certified) to transport building materials from flatbed trucks to rooftops.
• Accurately verify and reconcile material orders.
• Provide exceptional service to roofing contractors.
• Adhere strictly to OSHA safety regulations and company protocols.
• Work closely with drivers and other team members to coordinate efficient loading and unloading processes.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Should be physically fit, capable of lifting heavy items up to 100 lbs. and operating machinery.
• Must have good balance and be comfortable working significant heights on varied roof surfaces.
• Work is primarily outdoors and on rooftops, with exposure to various weather conditions.
• Safety equipment such as hard hats, safety harnesses, and gloves is required.
• Exposure to loud machinery noise is inherent to the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Reliable transportation for commuting.
• Authorized to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship.
• Ability to pass criminal and driving background checks, along with a pre-employment drug test.
• Proficient in verbal and written communication in English. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
• Safety awareness with knowledge of OSHA guidelines.
• Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Availability to work Monday through Friday with the potential for overtime based on delivery schedules and peak seasons.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $20.00 to $25.34 per hour. Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. SRS Distribution offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime based on business needs. Depending on the role, associates may also be eligible for performance-based bonus programs, commissions, car allowance or automobile and fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with company travel policy.
