Job description

Utilize your strength as a Loader for us at our Ladson, SC location. We are a wholesale distributor of building materials selling residential and commercial roofing products and we are seeking a full-time Loader to work in a safe environment with positive people.

This role is an excellent opportunity to join the Richards Family, become familiar with the Building Materials industry while learning new equipment and business operations with the possibility to grow with us as a driver, warehouse, operations or salesperson.

The Rooftop Loader will support the Driver at the Branch by loading the truck and riding with the Driver to the job site to unload the building materials safely and efficiently both on the ground and on the roof. The roofing materials will be unloaded onto the roof of the building with attention paid to the Roofing Contractors’ needs and the homeowners’ property.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
• Assisting with loading products onto rooftops
• Assisting in maneuvering delivery vehicles
• Delivering product in non-CDL required vehicles
• Double checking all loads for accuracy and ensuring that they are thoroughly secured for delivery
• Providing warehouse support including shipping/receiving
• Pulling order for walk-in customers

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED
• Experience and interest working in a physically demanding, labor-intensive position lifting up to 100 lbs. properly and repeatedly on a daily basis
• Experience working directly with the customer
• Ability to communicate with co-workers, vendors, and customers (verbal and written)
• Must have basic math skills for inventory counts; and English verbal and written communication skills to be able to read purchase orders and communicate with team members
• Prior roofing industry experience a plus
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and climb ladders throughout complete shift
• Forklift experience preferred
• Ability and willingness to work on rooftops
• Positive attitude and team player
• Adhering to all safety policies, including wearing safety harness and other required equipment
• Work Monday through Friday and potential overtime during the busy season
