Role Description

Rolling Mill and Melt Shop Supervisors are responsible for overseeing daily production activities in the rolling mill and melt shop, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. In this full-time, on-site role located in Mojave, CA, supervisors coordinate shift schedules, assign tasks, and monitor performance of production teams. They manage process parameters, track output and scrap, and take corrective actions to meet production targets and quality standards.

Supervisors enforce safety policies, conduct inspections, and support equipment maintenance by reporting issues and collaborating with maintenance teams. They also prepare production reports, assist with training and development of team members, and work closely with plant leadership to implement process improvements and meet operational goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years supervisory experience in rolling mill or melt shop operations, including coordination of shifts, production lines, and workforce activities.
• Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and quality control in a heavy industrial or metals production environment.
• Strong safety leadership, including enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety talks, and promoting a safe work culture.
• Ability to interpret production data, monitor KPIs, troubleshoot process issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills for directing teams, resolving conflicts, and collaborating with cross-functional departments.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and production reporting systems for documenting output, incidents, and performance metrics.
• Experience with maintenance coordination, including identifying equipment problems and working with maintenance staff on repairs.
• Prior supervisory experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or steel mill setting; experience in reinforcing steel operations is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in manufacturing, metallurgy, or related fields is beneficial.
• Ability to thrive in an active, hands‑on manufacturing environment at our Mojave, CA facility, with a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Physical & Work Environment

• 
  Regular presence in a steel manufacturing and fabrication environment, including production areas, warehouse areas, loading areas, and outdoor yard operations.

  May be exposed to noise, dust, heat, cold, moving equipment, heavy materials, and other industrial conditions.

  Must follow all applicable PPE and safety requirements while in designated operational areas.

Compensation

$79,000 – $134,000 annually - Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s knowledge, skills, relevant work experience, education, certifications, and other job‑related qualifications. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.
