Qualifications

• Work closely with paving crew members and follow direction from the Foreman to ensure production goals are met.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Assist with other paving and labor duties as needed to support project completion.
• Maintain safety policies and PPE requirements and professional interactions with coworkers and the public.

Paving Roller Operator

Starting Pay: $20.00 to$23 per hour based on experience.

Position Summary

The Paving Roller Operator is an essential member of the asphalt paving crew responsible for operating steel drum and pneumatic rollers to compact asphalt surfaces on highways, private roads, parking lots, and driveways. This position plays a critical role in achieving proper density, smoothness, and overall quality of finished asphalt projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate paving roller equipment safely and efficiently during asphalt paving operations.
• Achieve specified compaction and surface quality standards on asphalt projects.
• Work closely with paving crew members and follow direction from the Foreman to ensure production goals are met.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Assist with other paving and labor duties as needed to support project completion.
• Utilize power brooms, hand tools, and power tools as required.
• Maintain excellent workmanship with strong attention to detail.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
• Maintain professional interactions with coworkers, customers, and the public.

Qualifications

• Previous asphalt paving roller operation experience required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes.
• Ability to work extended shifts, typically 8 to 12 hours per day, with overtime as needed.
• Ability to withstand vibration and rough terrain associated with heavy equipment operation.
• Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes, shift changes, and travel requirements.
• Reliable attendance and strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
• Willingness to travel and work out of town, county, or state when required.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Experience operating asphalt rollers on paving projects required.
• Knowledge of asphalt compaction procedures and paving operations preferred.
