Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. Additionally, the driver must ensure the vehicle is in compliance with company, state, and federal safety standards before operating, adhere to all regulations at all times, and complete vehicle condition reports (VCRs) daily to enable timely repairs of any vehicle defects.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform pre‑ and post‑operation inspections of the vehicle to confirm tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are functional; report any safety issues.
• Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site; read the route sheet, follow the map, and service each customer as identified or as assigned by the dispatcher or supervisor.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with company safety policies to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
• Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them per departmental procedures.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable material.
• Clean the area around any accidental waste spill, adhering to all applicable safety standards and policies.
• Continuously monitor vehicle condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip when appropriate.
• Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports as required.
• Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure all customers are serviced efficiently.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in the company’s ReSOP program.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
• Provide good customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations; act professionally, courteous and cooperative toward customers and co‑workers, and work with honesty and trustworthiness.
• Use good time‑management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
• Follow the work schedule and complete challenges as they arise.
• Adhere to company policies and promote safety standards while avoiding inappropriate risks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.

TOTAL BASE PAY RANGE

• 21.35 - 26.70 - 32.05 USD hourly
