The ideal candidate is safety-focused, customer-service oriented, and able to navigate residential and commercial sites, while maintaining accurate logs and documentation. CDL with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL and air brake endorsement required.

• Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience; waste industry driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned vehicles in compliance with all safety policies and federal/state/local laws.
• Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Safely deliver, exchange, and remove roll-off containers at customer locations.
• Secure and tarp loads in accordance with policy and regulations.
• Maintain route logs and disposal tickets; communicate with management on issues.
• Assist with improving route efficiency and safety training attendances.

Jerome L. Taylor Trucking, Inc. (JLT) is seeking experienced Roll-Off Drivers to join our team at our hauling operations facility in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This position is responsible for operating roll-off trucks throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, transporting waste, recyclables, construction debris, and other materials to designated disposal, transfer, and recycling facilities.

Position Summary

JLT Roll-Off Drivers operate heavy-duty roll-off collection vehicles and are responsible for the safe transportation and placement of roll-off containers at customer locations. Drivers deliver, exchange, remove, and transport open-top containers while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, customer-oriented, and capable of navigating residential, commercial, industrial, and construction-site environments while maintaining exceptional customer service.

Licenses & Certifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

• Operate assigned vehicles in compliance with all JLT Safety Policies, OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections using the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
• Safely deliver, exchange, and remove roll-off containers at customer locations.
• Secure and tarp loads in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all transported materials are contained and safely hauled to designated disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, accidents, injuries, incidents, or property damage to the Route Manager or Dispatcher.
• Attend and actively participate in required safety meetings, training sessions, and company briefings.
• Work collaboratively with management to improve route efficiency and operational performance.
• Communicate customer concerns, service requests, and route-related issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate route logs, disposal tickets, and other required documentation.
• Operate equipment in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of waste industry driving experience required
• Experience operating roll-off trucks strongly preferred
• Experience servicing construction, demolition, and commercial accounts preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb in and out of trucks multiple times throughout the day.
• Ability to tarp containers and secure loads safely.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
• Ability to comply with all safety requirements and wear required PPE.
