The YMCA of Centre County – State College Branch is seeking enthusiastic Rock Climbing Instructors/Staff to support our climbing programs and wall operations. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people of all ages and are committed to creating a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for participants.

Shifts are on Fridays and Sundays. Responsibilities include supervising wall activities, teaching climbing techniques, inspecting equipment, and promoting skill development

Qualifications

• Previous climbing experience required; belay certification preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children, teens, adults, and families.
• Weekend availability is required.

Responsabilités

• Supervise climbing wall activities and ensure adherence to safety policies.
• Teach climbing techniques, equipment use, belaying skills, and safety practices to participants of varying ages and levels.
• Conduct equipment inspections and maintain cleanliness and organization of the climbing area.
• Monitor participants and provide encouragement, instruction, and support during sessions.
• Respond to emergencies and report incidents to supervisors.
• Create a positive, inclusive environment that promotes skill development and enjoyment.
• Assist with special events and climbing-related activities as needed.

The YMCA of Centre County’s State College Branch is seeking enthusiastic and safety-focused Rock Climbing Instructors/Staff to support our climbing programs and climbing wall operations. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people of all ages, have a passion for climbing, and are committed to creating a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for participants.

Staff are needed to fill shifts on Fridays and/or Sundays.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise climbing wall activities and ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
• Teach climbing techniques, equipment use, belaying skills, and safety practices to participants of varying ages and experience levels.
• Conduct equipment inspections and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the climbing area.
• Monitor participants and provide encouragement, instruction, and support throughout climbing sessions.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and report incidents to supervisors.
• Create a positive and inclusive environment that promotes skill development, confidence, and enjoyment.
• Assist with special events, group programs, and climbing-related activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous climbing experience required; climbing instruction or belay certification preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
• Weekend availability is required.

Salary & Benefits

• $15.00–$25.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
