Job summary

Bach to Rock - Virginia Beach is seeking an experienced Multi-Instrumental Band/Ensemble Coach to work as a PART-TIME employee providing music and performance lessons to students, rock bands, and ensembles in Virginia Beach. You will teach bands, guide original music development, and foster an encouraging rehearsal atmosphere.

Ideal candidates are experienced performers/band leaders with a background in teaching young musicians and the ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Must be a multi-instrumentalist with ability to teach and lead groups.
• Strong understanding of music theory and how to communicate it to students.
• Able to manage rehearsal time effectively and keep groups on task.
• Experience leading bands or ensembles and working with young musicians.
• Background check clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Teach bands and ensembles using the B2R curriculum and cover song arrangements.
• Guide students in developing their own original music.
• Create an encouraging, fun, and focused rehearsal atmosphere.
• Assist at B2R events.
• May repair equipment as needed.

Bach To Rock (“B2R”), Va,Beach America’s Music School for students of all ages, is currently seeking an experiencedMulti-InstrumentalBand/Ensemble Coachto work as aPART-TIME employeeproviding music and performance lessons to students, rock bands, and ensembles. Band Coaches teach small groups of young musicians to collaborate, listen, and work together as a successful band that performs and records.

Rock Band/Ensemble Teacher at Bach to Rock embraces a philosophy of well-balanced music education to inspire students to perform the music they love in a group of their peers whether at a farmer’s market or on stages at exciting venues.

Position Responsibilities:

• Teach bands and ensembles using the B2R curriculum and cover song arrangements

• Guide students in developing their own original music

Requirements:

• Multi-instrumentalists are strongly preferred

• Must demonstrate an understanding of music theory and be able to communicate those concepts to students

• Effective time management and organizational skills to keep a group of students on task in a productive rehearsal

• Comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities

• An experienced performer and band leader/member (required)

• Experience working with young and beginning musicians (required)

• Ability to interact effectively with both children and adults

• Ability to pass a background check
