Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking a Head of Robotics Data Collection Systems to lead the development and deployment of an end-to-end data capture infrastructure for next-generation robotics and AI applications.

You will own hardware integration, sensor calibration, deployment strategy, field reliability, and global scaling, while guiding a multidisciplinary team and aligning with Research, Platform Engineering and Operations to support ongoing robotics initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering field-deployed robotics or sensing platforms.
• Strong understanding of sensor integration, calibration, synchronisation and data capture reliability.
• Experience with robotics data collection, teleoperation or multimodal sensing systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of ROS/ROS 2 or similar robotics middleware.
• Strong debugging skills across hardware, sensors, networking and embedded systems.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams while driving operational excellence and scalable deployment.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end robotics data collection platform, including hardware, sensors, calibration, synchronisation and deployment.
• Develop scalable capture processes that deliver reliable, high-quality data across teams, partners and field locations.
• Lead the technical roadmap for capture infrastructure, making key build vs. buy decisions and driving future platform strategy.
• Troubleshoot and eliminate data integrity issues before they impact downstream AI and machine learning workflows.
• Build deployment playbooks, validation processes and operational standards to support global scaling.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of robotics engineers, technicians and external partners.
• Collaborate with Research, Platform Engineering and Operations to ensure data collection supports next-generation robotics and Physical AI development.

Job description

We're partnering with an exciting robotics and AI company looking for a Head of Robotics Data Collection Systems to lead the development and deployment of their end-to-end data capture infrastructure.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built and scaled real-world robotics or sensing systems. You'll own everything from hardware integration and sensor calibration through to deployment strategy, field reliability and operational excellence—ensuring high-quality robotics data is captured consistently across multiple environments.

Nice to have skills

Experience with technologies such as MCAP, rosbag, OpenCV, FFmpeg, PTP/NTP, depth cameras, IMUs, motion capture, robot arms or mobile robotics would be highly beneficial, as would experience supporting large-scale robotics deployments or Physical AI data collection programmes.
