Job summary

Brooks Automation is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to develop embedded software for its robotics automation group, enabling precise motion control and self-diagnostics across products.

You will design and maintain software for advanced automation systems, build data collection/analytics capabilities, and apply ML/AI to improve performance and reliability. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, along with robust testing and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Proficient in C++11 or later for embedded robotics software.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as QNX or RTLinux.
• Strong object-oriented design and software architecture skills.
• Experience in software development life cycle and Agile practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for robotics and vacuum subsystems to control motion and diagnostics.
• Design and maintain software applications for advanced automation systems.
• Build software infrastructure for data collection, storage, analytics, and monitoring.
• Create intelligent diagnostics, visualization, and data-driven automation capabilities.
• Apply ML/AI techniques to improve system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define features and requirements.
• Communicate design changes and participate in reviews.
• Ensure high-quality software through automated testing and DevOps practices.
• Support manufacturing and field service teams in issue investigation and resolution.
