Job summary

Oceaneering in Houston seeks a Robotics Software Engineer to join the New Products Development team. You will design, implement, and test software across multiple projects for subsea robotics and related automation applications, collaborating with hardware and systems teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year experience integrating multiple software modules.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with C++ or Python.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with electrical/electronic circuits.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and test software across multiple projects.
  • Work across the robotics stack to solve land and sea robotics challenges.
  • Test algorithms on robots, both internal to the software system and client facing.
  • Create and execute software test plans to deliver quality software.
  • Create prototypes and proofs of concepts for new features.

  • Work with system and product teams to ensure quality software delivery.
  • Interact with customer representatives to define and manage customer expectations.

Functions
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential
  • Design, develop, implement, and test software on a variety of assignments across multiple projects.
  • Work across the robotics stack to solve challenging problems in land and sea-based robotics.
  • Test algorithms that run on our robots, both internal to the software system and client facing.
  • Create and execute software test plans to deliver quality software
  • Create prototypes and proof of concepts for new features
  • Support testing of prototype and document results
  • Work with system and product teams to ensure quality software delivery
  • Interact with customer representatives to define and manage customer expectations.

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Manager – Software Manager
  • May take direction from Project Managers
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Software Engineering or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with integrating multiple software modules
  • Minimum 1 Year experience working with C++ or Python in academic or professional environment
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with electrical and electronic circuits in academic or professional environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
DESIRED
  • Preferred to have experience working with hardware (Motors, controllers, industrial manipulators, sensors etc.).
  • Preferred to have experience using GitHub, Agile, SCRUM or other formal processes
  • Experience working with complex software and system
  • Experience working with Image processing and AI
  • Experience in system state machine development and software configuration

Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Mostly indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
