Job summary

Toyota Research Institute (TRI) invites two Research Interns to explore post-training and adaptation of pretrained generalist robot policies in our Robotics division. You will work with researchers and engineers on challenging open questions across offline-to-online RL, imitation learning, and world models.

This Fall 2026 internship is hybrid (in-office) in California, offering a collaborative environment and opportunities to publish at leading venues.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field with strong research experience.
• Experience in robot learning, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or related areas.
• Strong programming in Python and PyTorch; ability to communicate research findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Investigate post-training and adaptation of pretrained generalist robot policies.
• Propose research directions: offline-to-online RL, imitation learning, sim-to-real transfer.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to produce publishable results.
