Job summary

McKinsey & Company in Detroit seeks a senior engineer to lead technical workstreams, building multi-physics simulation frameworks and digital twins for industrial clients.

You will develop surrogate models and physics-informed machine learning, deploying tools on HPC and translating insights into strategic client solutions. Collaboration across the Robotics and Physical AI team will accelerate this physics AI capability.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in computational mechanics, materials science, mechanical/aerospace/nuclear engineering, computational physics, or related field.
• Proven ability to develop high-quality engineering or scientific code in Python or C++.
• Fluency with statistical sampling, ML, and data science techniques.
• Simulation experience and experience with ML/AI/Data Science is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and independent task execution.
• Strong communication in English and local office language(s).

Responsibilities

• Lead technical workstreams on client engagements, building multi-physics simulation frameworks and digital twins.
• Develop surrogate and machine learning models and apply physics-informed machine learning to real-world engineering systems.
• Deploy scalable production tools on HPC infrastructure and translate computational insights into strategic recommendations for clients.
• Collaborate within the Robotics and Physical AI team to build a first-of-its-kind physics AI capability.
