Capstan Medical Inc. is building a first-of-its-kind surgical robot and seeks a manufacturing engineer to productize robotic subsystems.

You’ll lead from early engineering builds through DV/clinical production, creating processes, fixtures, and documentation to turn a design into a repeatable product. You’ll own line layout, tooling, calibration, and PFMEA, collaborate across R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing, and mentor technicians on the floor in a fast-paced, growth-stage

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 7+ years manufacturing engineering for Senior, 10+ years for Staff (Masters offset).
• Proven track record taking electro-mechanical systems from development into production.

Responsibilities

• Lead productization of new robotic subsystems across R&D to clinical builds.
• Own the path from design to product; drive issues/decisions to closure across functions.
• Plan build readiness: documentation, fixtures, materials, equipment, line setup, training.
• Develop and qualify special processes (bonding, welding, press fits, crimping).
• Create and mature manufacturing documentation (MPIs, DHRs, inspection points).
• Design, qualify, release fixtures and tooling; define calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Provide DFM/DFA feedback to simplify build, test, and service.
• Define line layout, process flow, cycle time, staffing; ensure facility and safety needs.
• Make make-vs-buy decisions; work with suppliers on outsourced processes.
• Establish traceability and firmware/software version control.
• Own PFMEA and drive process validation with Quality.
• Collaborate with manufacturing software engineers to integrate test/calibration into build flow.
• Lead root-cause investigations and implement fixes.
• Mentor engineers and technicians; incorporate feedback into processes.
