Job summary

Alten USA in San Francisco, CA is seeking a Robotics Lab Technician to build and test electromechanical robotic systems in a fast-paced prototype lab. You will assemble, wire, and verify hardware, collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, and contribute to continuous improvement and SOP development.

The role requires hands-on assembly, strong documentation, and comfort with Linux-based testing. On-site, 5 days per week, with a salary range of $90,000–$105,000.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience assembling and testing electromechanical robotics hardware in a lab or prototype setting.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Proficient with hand tools, torque wrenches, soldering, and small fasteners.
• Experience performing functional and acceptance testing with standard test equipment.
• Strong record-keeping and documentation habits; capable of traceability.
• Comfort with Linux command line and scripting basics.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electromechanical robotic systems and subsystems from drawings and instructions.
• Stage hardware, fixtures and jigs; ensure proper torque and alignment.
• Create first articles and provide feedback for design iterations (DFx).
• Wire and terminate harnesses; document pinouts and routes.
• Perform pre-power-on electrical verification and board-level integration.
• Maintain build travelers, inspection checklists, and NCRs with traceability.
• Bring up assemblies; verify actuators/sensors; run acceptance tests.
• Use Linux and Git to manage test software and track versions across fleet.
• Read logs and source code to triage issues and escalate root causes.
