Job summary

CNH Industrial invites driven students to join its global Robotics team for an Apple Harvester project internship. You will work alongside engineers across countries on robotic‑arm systems, autonomy, planning and control, and mechanical design, with hands‑on field testing and design tasks.

Summer interns work full‑time and gain mentorship, housing support, and professional development opportunities as part of CNH Industrial’s internship program.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in one of the listed engineering or technical disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Support an Apple Harvester engineering project in one or more areas: field testing, robotic‑arm manipulation, mechanical design, software design, or planning and control.
  • Assist with preparing for and participating in field tests; collect observations and data, document results, and help identify improvement opportunities.
  • Help evaluate robotic‑arm performance, such as reachability, positioning, motion behavior, end‑effector interaction, and harvesting workflows.
  • Contribute to mechanical design tasks, including CAD updates, prototype evaluation, component documentation, or design‑for‑test improvements.
  • Support software or controls work under mentorship, such as implementing small features, troubleshooting issues, reviewing sensor/robot data, or improving test tools.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Robotics/Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Software Engineering/Mechatronics/Systems Engineering or related

Job Purpose

Join CNH’s global Robotics team, collaborating with engineers across multiple countries on advanced agricultural-robotics programs, including the Apple Harvester and the R4 autonomous agricultural robot. The team’s work spans robotic-arm systems, autonomy, planning and control, mechanical design, and field validation.

This internship will support a focused Apple Harvester project. The intern will learn from and contribute alongside experienced engineers while helping improve the performance, reliability, and usability of robotic harvesting technology through field testing, robotic manipulation, mechanical design, software design, or planning and control work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support an Apple Harvester engineering project in one or more areas: field testing, robotic‑arm manipulation, mechanical design, software design, or planning and control.
  • Assist with preparing for and participating in field tests; collect observations and data, document results, and help identify improvement opportunities.
  • Help evaluate robotic‑arm performance, such as reachability, positioning, motion behavior, end‑effector interaction, and harvesting workflows.
  • Contribute to mechanical design tasks, including CAD updates, prototype evaluation, component documentation, or design‑for‑test improvements.
  • Support software or controls work under mentorship, such as implementing small features, troubleshooting issues, reviewing sensor/robot data, or improving test tools.
  • Help develop or refine motion‑planning and control concepts for agricultural robotic operations.
  • Document test procedures, findings, design decisions, and recommendations clearly for the broader engineering team.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary and international team members across robotics, software, mechanical, controls, and field operations.
  • Learn and follow engineering practices including safe field operations, version control, code/design reviews, structured testing, and issue tracking.
Experience Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in one of these fields: Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or related engineering or technical discipline.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD $19.57 – $31.93 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
