Meta's Robotics Hardware team seeks a Research Scientist Intern focused on high-performance custom robotics hardware. The twelve to twenty-four week program offers hands-on system design, hardware prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration to advance humanoid robotics capabilities.

The role emphasizes designing and testing robotic systems, applying first-principles approaches, and contributing to maturation of key components for Meta's robotics product development in Redmond, WA.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or has a Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in hands-on design, bring-up, and iteration of real robotic hardware systems using first-principles-driven approaches.
• Experience across domains such as electromagnetic simulation, actuator design, hardware prototyping, tactile sensing, motor control, and autonomy.
• Proven track record through grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, bring up and test advanced robotic systems (hardware and software).
• Advance rapid prototyping of new concepts and provide creative hardware solutions.
• Support characterization and validation for maturation of critical components.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers on full-stack system development.
