Job summary

Sieve seeks its first roboticist to own the physical AI data systems—the robots, capture rigs, and teleoperation stations. You will bring hardware and software together from table-borne parts to field-ready setups at partner sites, ensuring synchronized, high-quality data streams.

You will wire, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot across firmware, wiring, and applications, with heavy emphasis on reliability and repeatable builds for scale across sites.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience building robotic, mechatronic, or controls systems (background in robotics, EE, ME, or similar)
  • Systems you've deployed beyond the lab (in a factory, warehouse, field site, or customer site)
  • Hands-on bring-up and integration of robots, and troubleshooting across firmware to wiring to application code
  • Comfortable at a workbench: soldering, building and repairing harnesses, power faults, CAN/serial/USB/Ethernet debugging
  • Production-quality Python and C++ for hardware that runs outside the lab; Linux/ROS/ROS2 fluency
  • Disciplined engineering habits: test plans, documentation, measurements to back up claims
  • Able to context switch rapidly
  • In-person at our SF HQ (+ travel to partner sites: TBD)

Responsibilities

  • Capture rigs: design and bring up hardware we record with, including multi-camera arrays and teleoperation stations
  • Calibration and time sync: own camera intrinsics, hardware triggering, clock alignment across sensors
  • Root-cause failures: diagnose and fix motor stalls, dropped frames, power rail sags, or quiescent buses
  • Field deployments: set up and operate systems at partner sites, ensure durability and operability
  • Robot and capture software: write drivers, ROS/ROS2 integration, recording/logging, QA checks
  • Repeatable builds: produce BOMs, assembly docs, validation plans, SOPs for scaling setups
  • Team foundations: establish hardware architecture, interfaces, test standards, and culture for the team
