Job summary

Generalist AI is seeking a Hardware Engineer in San Mateo, CA to own electrical systems end-to-end, from initial sketches to production. You will develop sensing and motor control electronics for robots, with attention to latency, reliability, and integration with advanced SoCs.

You’ll collaborate with mechanical and software teams, prototype new sensor modules, and drive designs through DFM/DFT, EMC, and regulatory certifications as we scale production for our embodied AI hardware platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping complex electronics products.
• Ownership from concept to production lifecycle.
• Experience with highly integrated SoC designs and high-speed interfaces.
• Experience in managing external suppliers, CM/JDMs, and production ramp.
• Strong collaboration with mechanical and software teams.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical designs from concept to production and validation.
• Design sensing and motor control electronics for low latency, high fidelity performance.
• Architect multi-sensor integrations with advanced SoCs.
• Plan and implement power delivery with diverse sources and compact enclosures.
• Develop embedded firmware (C/C++, Rust) for microcontrollers and Linux drivers.
• Coordinate with mechanical on enclosure, thermal, and connectors.
• Drive DFM/DFT, EMC, and regulatory certification; support manufacturing ramp.
