Robotics Equipment Assembly and Welding SpecialistDo you like turning drawings into running machines? Are you equally at home behind a MIG gun, at a mill, and on a customer production floor? If you’re energized by custom builds and short stints of travel (~15%) to install and support what you create, this role is for you.Why This Role MattersWe design and build bespoke automated and robotic systems. You’ll be the hands and mind that transform engineered concepts into precise, reliable equipment—fabricating, assembling, installing, tuning, troubleshooting, repairing, and painting along the way. What You’ll Tackle FirstRead blueprints and plan the build path for frames, guarding, fixtures, conveyors, and robot-ready mechanisms.Lay out, fit, and complete MIG welds on mild and stainless (aluminum at times); grind and finish to spec.Assemble and align bearings, belts, shafts, gears, sprockets, couplings, linear components, cylinders, valves, sensors, and guards.Use hand/power tools and precision measuring equipment to ensure tolerance and function.Operate manual machines for quick part mods; drill, tap, cut, grind, and fit as required.Inspect quality and escalate drawing or interference issues with clear, actionable feedback to engineering. Then You’ll Go FurtherPartner with mechanical, controls, electrical, and fellow technicians to build prototypes from evolving designs.Provide feedback on assembly flow, serviceability, and design improvements; document tests and iterations.Support installation and startup at customer facilities—leveling, anchoring, aligning, adjusting, and function-testing equipment.Troubleshoot root causes using wear patterns, motion analysis, and performance data.Repair/replace belts, chains, gears, bearings, bushings, shafts, valves, cylinders, seals, fasteners, and similar parts.Validate repairs with functional tests and communicate outcomes to the team. How You’ll WorkReport to the Mechanical Engineering Manager while receiving tasking from project leadership as needed.Collaborate cross-functionally—mechanical, controls, project management, sales, fabrication, installation, and customers.Join safety briefings and improvement huddles; share progress, risks, and material constraints promptly.Maintain a safe, clean, organized workspace and comply with OSHA and company policies. What You BringEducationAssociate degree or technical training (Welding, Mechanical Tech, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics) preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered.Required Experience2+ years in mechanical fabrication/welding/assembly/industrial maintenance.MIG and TIG on mild and stainless steel; blueprint and spec interpretation.Proficiency with hand/power tools, fab equipment, and precision metrology.Strong mechanical aptitude with fasteners, bearings, shafts, belts, gears, and standard build practices.Demonstrated ability to diagnose and correct mechanical issues.Comfort performing hands-on fab, assembly, installation, and repairs.Preferred ExperienceCustom machine building, systems integration, industrial automation, manufacturing, or robotics equipment exposure.Aluminum welding, part prep, and equipment painting.Manual machining skills.Equipment installation, alignment, startup, and field service.Basic pneumatics and hydraulics; familiarity with power transmission.Industrial machinery troubleshooting and repair.Skills and TraitsExcellent welding/fab/assembly and mechanical troubleshooting skills.Translate drawings into complete, accurate builds with efficiency and quality.Proficient with tape measures, calipers, micrometers, levels, squares, and alignment tools.Clear communicator; organized, resourceful, and ownership-driven.Manages multiple priorities and thrives both independently and on a team.Continuous learner with strong problem-solving mindset.Travel and Field WorkTravel about 15% (some overnight) to install, start up, align, troubleshoot, repair, and support equipment post-delivery.Comfort working in industrial/manufacturing sites following customer safety, security, and access rules.Valid U.S. driver’s license with an acceptable record.Certifications (Nice to Have)OSHA 10 or 30Forklift/powered industrial truck operatorAerial lift/mobile elevated work platformRelevant welding/mechanical/OEM/safety certsPhysical DemandsLift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.Bend, reach, climb, kneel, and crouch to assemble/install equipment.Safely operate welding/fabrication machinery, hand/power tools, and precision instruments.Work safely around industrial machinery, automation, welding, and manufacturing processes.Wear required PPE.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.Grow With UsBuild diverse automation/robotic systems—far from repetitive line work.Own projects from fabrication through test, install, and startup.Level up in welding, fab, machining, assembly, troubleshooting, and field installation.Work beside expert engineers, electricians, fabricators, and technicians.Influence design and reliability with your hands-on insight.Solve real production challenges and see the impact.Stable, full-time role with professional development opportunities.See your builds become fully functional production assets.Proficiencies We ValueMechanical Troubleshooting SkillsOSHA 10-Hour Certification (OSHA 10)Pneumatics TroubleshootingMaintenance and Repair SkillsField Service ReadinessCNC Machine Setup & ChangeoverMechanical Systems & Component RepairCrane & Lifting Equipment SystemsLockout/Tagout (LOTO)Equipment InstallationAdditional Employment RequirementsAbility to pass applicable background checks.Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.Ability to comply with company and customer safety requirements.Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.Equal Employment OpportunityAutomation Solutions and Livingston & Haven consider all qualified applicants without regard to age, race, color, national origin, sex, religion, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other status protected by applicable law.
