Job description

Job Title: Robotics Engineer

Location: 100% travel

Duration: 5 months

Job Description:

Systems engineers will be deploying the robotic systems in various phases of a product life cycle. When supporting new products, the candidate is required to lead the development of process documentation and modifying the existing processes. Strong technical understanding, love for field work, and a keen interest in diving deep into the understanding of Client’s robotics systems are key attributes for this role. The ability to recognize process gaps and take ownership in developing solutions are important. Project duration can range from a few days to several months and includes travel across the US. This position requires 100% travel.

Critical Skills:
  1. Proficiency in reading, developing technical documentation, and writing process instructions
  2. Experience handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, field-based construction or warehouse environment
  3. Must be proficient in standard office software tools and processes
  4. Expertise in robotics, complex electro-mechanical systems, and networked engineering, including knowledge of robotic components and software
  5. Strong initiative and ability to work independently, while reporting to leadership.
  6. Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions and data reporting on project status and technology deployments
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  8. Ability to capture lessons learned, conduct retrospective reviews, and drive continuous improvement projects
  9. Capability to function independently, manage a team of 1-5 engineers and related trades during deployments
  10. Proficiency in integrated schedule management to coordinate with different teams both within and outside of Client Robotics
  11. Ability to oversee and resolve escalations during robotics deployment including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, monitoring system performance, etc.
  12. Responsible for delivering projects by owning key performance indicators related to on-time delivery, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability
  13. Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data-driven decisions.
Key Job Responsibilities:

Support and guide installation of robotic technologies at Client fulfillment centers. The Systems Engineer develops detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guides installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems both on site and remotely. The scopes vary significantly in length and include heavy travel to both live warehouses and new construction sites. The Systems Engineer will generate and implement continuous improvement ideas around their work-scopes and lead teams of other engineers on projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. BS degree in Engineering or closely related STEM field.
  2. 3+ years working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
  3. 2+ years experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models to resolve on-site clash issues using 3D clash detection reports.
  4. 2+ years working a field setting including construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environment
  5. 1+ year experience with troubleshooting robotics systems or other complex mechanical-electrical or networked systems to resolve escalations including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, monitoring system performance, etc.
  6. 1+ year experience with business intelligence and data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Tableau).
  7. Strong project management skills, as well as strong communication skills are needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
  2. Experience in a role with a minimum 50% travel.
  3. Ability to demonstrate past use of data to drive decision making processes
  4. Familiarity with LEAN or Six Sigma. Certifications are a plus.
  5. Ability to take independent initiative when presented with a business need.
