Job summary

LightSpeed Build Technologies in Northbrook, IL seeks a Residential Design & Preconstruction Specialist to own home designs from sketch to production-ready files. This is a part-time/fractional role (10–20 hrs per week) with path to full-time as project volume grows.

You will drive Revit modeling to construction-document level, manage plan libraries, prepare production-ready files (BTLx, IFC), and collaborate with engineering and estimating to translate designs into robotic-construction costs.

Qualifications

• Experience modeling residential buildings in Revit to construction-document level.
• Knowledge of US wood-frame construction, IRC and NEC familiarity.
• Experience estimating with real project costs (materials, labor, regional variation).
• Comfort presenting designs to customers and handling feedback.
• Disciplined modeling habits with reliable delivery against milestones.

Responsibilities

• Design development: take designs from rough layouts to approved plans and produce renderings.
• Production handoff: prepare files for engineering and production teams; ensure buildability.
• Preconstruction & estimating: review plans, produce pricing breakdowns, and preliminary bids.
• Design reviews with customers: join plan reviews and explain cost tradeoffs; support technical decisions.
